SINGAPORE – 7 October 2019 – Spackman Entertainment Group Limited (“Spackman Entertainment Group” or the “Company” and together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”), wishes to announce that the Group’s new film, CRAZY ROMANCE, a romantic comedy film produced by the Group’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Zip Cinema Co., Ltd. (“Zip Cinema”), crossed the 1 million ticket sales mark since its official wide release at the Korean box office on 2 October 2019.

CRAZY ROMANCE held a tie record with A WEREWOLF BOY (2012), the highest-grossing Korean melodrama movie, as the romantic film which took the shortest time to break the 1 million ticket mark in the history of the Korean box office.[1] A WEREWOLF BOY (2012) accumulated a total of 6.7 million tickets at the Korean box office.

CRAZY ROMANCE broke the 1 million ticket mark faster than last year’s top romantic Korean films, BE WITH YOU which posted a total of 2.6 million tickets, and ON YOUR WEDDING DAY which collected a total of 2.8 million tickets, as well as the 2012 romantic hit film produced by Zip Cinema, ALL ABOUT MY WIFE which recorded a total of 4.6 million tickets.

Based on the latest statistics from the Korean Film Council, CRAZY ROMANCE recorded total ticket admissions of 1,064,527 with gross box office revenue of more than US$7.6 million as of 6 October 2019. The romantic comedy film, which occupied an average of 1,053 screens, captured 26% of the nation’s market share of the Korean box office revenue as of 6 October 2019.

CRAZY ROMANCE relates the story of a man who is still in love with his ex-girlfriend and the ex-girlfriend who is currently is in the middle of a rough parting with her current boyfriend. The three of them are wounded by love.

Headlined by veteran actor, Kim Rae-won of DOCTORS (2016), and popular actress, Gong Hyo-jin of DON’T DARE TO DREAM (2016), CRAZY ROMANCE is the first commercial film of Kim Han-gyeol and marks 16 years since Kim Rae-won and Gong Hyo-jin last collaborated in the classic Korean drama SNOWMAN.

Directed by independent film director Kim Han-gyeol, the romantic comedy film is presented and distributed by Next Entertainment World Co., Ltd.

The estimated total production budget (including prints and advertising costs) for CRAZY ROMANCE is tentatively set at approximately KRW6.7 billion (or US$6.0million).
